Just a few days following the release of the iPad application by Globetrotter outfitters, the app skyrocketed into the top 20 of the Apple App store – without even having been advertised.
The new Globetrotter app has become available in the App Store just a few days ago.
The App converts Globetrotter's Handbook 2010 into a multimedia shopping experience. True to the Globetrotter motto "Living your dreams", the catalog app allows you to dive into a world of the outdoors, leisure and travel.
And the new catalog app has quite a lot to offer in terms of performance: 732 pages available online, intuitive paging, horizontal and verticals views, zooming with no loading times, item details views with in-depth production information and ordering options are just some of the many handy functions. Video integration that provides additional information on the product ranges completes the shopping experience.
Globetrotter is one of the first mail-order companies to offer their catalog on the iPad. The catalog app OnlineKATmobile, developed by Meyle+Müller is based on the OnlineKAT, a flip-page catalog that has been successfully used by many mail-order companies in eCommerce. The success of the product is demonstrated by the many that will follow suit: The catalog was downloaded a whopping 2000 times and made it into the top 20 apps in the App Store just days after its release. This deserves particular notice as no media actions whatsoever were undertaken prior to the App's launch.
