Meyle+Müller is very pleased with their successful premier. July 1st 2010 marked the day of the company's first New Media Symposium. More than 200 participants representing the sectors mail order, retail, publishing and industry were invited and attended. The event, under the motto "Change Media – Change Management" clearly demonstrated that companies should also tread new paths in e-commerce to maintain sustainable success in times to come. Creativity is key when it comes to acquiring new customers and keeping the ones we have. The New Media Symposium provides substantial impetus for e-commerce and mobile commerce with valuable new ideas for the future.

Stephan Meixner, a journalist specialized in e-commerce and online marketing, was one of the first at the event to speak about moving images and videos and their significance as selling instruments in e-business. His experience has shown that webshops could increase their conversion rate with the use of video by at least 30%.

Gunter Hahn, xchain CEO and Andreas Gerstner, SALES Manager New Media at Meyle+Müller gave an outlook of trends and innovations in e-commerce and mobile commerce. The speakers offered some handy examples of how trend topics are implemented in practice.

Tore Meyer, co-developer of the WeTab − Germany's answer to the iPad−, demonstrated the countless functions and opportunities tablet PCs provide to users. His studies show that this new technology will make the Internet and e-commerce more accessible to older target groups.

Matthias Greiner, Sales Manager at metaio covered the topic Augmented Reality. He introduced the latest developments as well as use cases.  During a virtual fashion fitting session, reality and computer-generated content merge: With the aid of a webcam, the user can try on new clothes with the click of the mouse and view the result right away.

Carsten Kraus, Omikron CEO, demonstrated how user search queries can be understood and interpreted even better - thanks to optimized semantics.

The speech given by Dr. Pero Micic marked the successful closing of the event. Under the title: "Seeing and understanding more of the media future than the competition", the Chairman of FutureManagementGroup AG reported on topics pertaining to future research.

"Meyle+Müller organized the New Media Symposium with the aim to provide participants with a competitive edge in terms of knowledge of trends and future developments.
